My name is Adeboro Odunlami, a lawyer and technology + rights policy consultant. I have worked with organisations like Paradigm Initiative, Advocacy for Policy and Innovation, Resilience Technologies and AIRA. Currently, I coordinate AIRA, an alliance of the biggest digital rights organisations in Africa. I also consult for Resilience Technologies on its program on digital security for at-risk communities.
I am also a Mandela Washington Fellow. Watch my Ignite Talk on Innovating Oppression here.
Minor Safety was born out of my Internet Society Early Career Fellowship (ISOC-ECF) project. I initially intended to do a project on Online Gender Violence; exploring copyright as a path to seek justice (I eventually co-founded an access to justice platform for NCII abuse victims called “Lawbrella“)
However, over the course of my ISOC-ECF lectures and the development of personal interest, I became very interested in public policy research focused on online trust and safety for children and young people. I modified my project to present a policy-backed self-assessment tool for developers and service providers to assess their platforms’ compliance with child safety standards, policies, and guidelines.
Post-fellowship, now I share my expert commentary on trust and safety, online child safety and privacy, policy development, product guidance, age-appropriate design and other related issues.
